How fast they grow up. It feels like only yesterday that we bought ANA her first Fisher Price record player (which she used to ruin our favorite UR vinyl) and now she is all grown up and ready to be a debutant, and not in the John Hughes kind of way! ANA will be playing at Panorama Bar for the first time this friday (Tomorrow! AAHHHH!) at Marcel Dettmann’s birthday bash. To commemorate the occasion and to save a few last words for posterity, we intimidated our Pretty in Vinyl with one of our notoriously short interviews:
Dear ANA, we notice a certain restlessness today – could you explain the reason for this?
Nowadays, our life is highly segmentated because of society being so differentiated. Reality is sliced into many pieces as well, so we are living simultaneously in many different environments, each with its own logic. Old certainities like traditions etc. are gone, but at the same time, we want to live and design our life outside of the tradionial standardized biography. Thus, people have to create their life in a DIY kind of way, and because of these new pluralisations and individualisations of living environments, the individual has to do multiple-identity-hopping. People become more and more restless because of the multiple realities they have to handle.
Ah, that makes sense (in a world-affairs kind of way). Three tracks we might hear on Friday?

You will be playing at Marcel Dettmann’s birthday? How come?
I had the pleasure of playing with Marcel a few times. He told me that he is a big fan of my style and that he wants to invite me to Berlin. Last time he told me he wanted to invite me to his birthday party and so it finally happened
.
And how many days will you be staying in Berlin?
I will be staying till tuesday to meet some friends… having a good time.
Some of my best friends are joining the event and are coming to berlin just for this, too, so we are going to have a lot of fun.
Before we leave you alone to find some inner peace for Friday: How do you relax before an important gig?
Basically I am always excited before I play. The most relaxing thing for me is to have a clue how my records are sorted in my bag – my bag is a mess usually. Having a nice dinner before playing is always good, too.
Thank you ANA, and break a leg come Friday night.
